OISTによる、クラウドファンディングが始まりました。
沖縄科学技術大学院大学（OIST）内にある、沖縄伝統染織クラブ主催のクラウドファンディングが始まりました。
琉球王朝時代から受け継がれてきた芭蕉布は、この時代でも、すべての工程を手作業で行い織り上げられます。
昨年、芭蕉布を科学的に解析した結果、沖縄の暑い夏に最適な布であることが明らかになりました。
先人達の知恵と技術が今に生きているのです。
そんな芭蕉布をより多くの方に知っていただく機会となれますよう、
展示会とシンポジウム開催に向けて、皆様のご支援お待ちしております。
OIST launches crowd-funding campaign for Bashofu exhibition and symposium
The tradition of making Bashofu has been conserved since the Ryukyu Kingdom.
Throughout more than 20 processes, from the growing of Itobasho banana trees for three years before harvesting, through to dying with native Okinawan plants and weaving, everything is done by hand.
Last year, OIST scientifically proved and reported that Bashofu is the best fabric for Okinawa’s weather. This shows that the knowledge and techniques used to make the centuries-old Bashofu are extremely sophisticated and effective.
We hope to have this opportunity to let more people know about Bashofu and its history and ensure its protection for the next generation.
